Spotlights is an exceptionally innovative piece of reading software, developed by a group of researchers at Aalto University over in Finland, that is designed to make it easier than ever for people to quickly skim through long articles whilst still retaining more and key bits of information.
We've all been guilty of scrolling quickly through documents. While our eyes may be seeing the text that rolls up along our screens, our brain often doesn't actually discern and process the visual input. This is where Spotlights comes in. The software is capable of detecting and isolating important content such as headlines, tables and images on pages. Key content is briefly placed atop the scrolling text so that the user's attention is captured.
Ultimately, this information-isolating reading software could be of great use when integrated into browsers and PDF programs.
