Coat of Arms-Inspired Pavilions

Santiago Calatrava Revealed its Plans for the Qatar Pavilion

The project's lead architects recently revealed the plans for the Qatar Pavilion at the Dubai Expo. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the new building will draw on the four elements represented on Qatar's coat of arms. Its design concept aims to capture the vision of the nation.

Dubai contractor ALEC Fitout is currently constructing the pavilion's shape to symbolize "Qatar's progressive outlook of the future while remaining true to its culture and heritage." Calatrava aims to translate the two crossed and curved swards from the Qatari coat of arms into the building to depict movement and strength. The pavilion will feature two main galleries and exhibition spaces and a 20 meter-high gold-colored sculpture to represent palm trees.
