Autonomous Navigating Cars

The PSA Peugeot Citroen Can Hit the Motorway On Its Own

The PSA Peugeot Citroen is truly a vehicle of the future. This vehicle is capable of functioning in complete autonomous mode, as demonstrated by a recent 580 km journey on the motorway from Paris to Bordeaux.

This vehicle is able to maintain its speed after taking into account the road conditions and traffic, and is also capable of independently changing lanes in order to pass sluggish traffic. The car is equipped with an array of on-board sensors and communications technologies which work together to increase its pedestrian awareness and ability to avoid collisions, using information transmitted by other vehicles and other environmental input.

"The journey made by our prototype today proves that autonomous vehicles are no longer a matter of science fiction," said PSA Peugeot Citroën chairman Carlos Tavares. "This ushers in a new era of mobility, which I find truly exciting."
