The rear collision prevention system combines rear-side radar sensors and front-facing cameras with sophisticated vehicle control algorithms to actively mitigate risks from approaching rear vehicles during highway driving. When operating in conjunction with Smart Cruise Control, the technology first alerts drivers through auditory and visual warnings if a trailing vehicle closes within 10 meters, then autonomously increases speed to maintain safe spacing while continuously monitoring lane positioning and forward traffic through its sensor array.
