In their first ever TV commercial, Patagonia stressed the importance of protected public lands. In the television ad, Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard discussed corporate greed and why protected public lands are significant for future generations. The ad spot targeted Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke in particular, who once said "our greatest treasures are public lands," and encouraged viewers to text him.
This follows a series of videos Patagonia created earlier this year, including a 360 degree video, that aimed to raise awareness for the protection of public spaces such as Utah's Bears Ears national monument. The socially conscious company has also threatened to sue the Trump Administration in the past over the need to conserve public lands.
