The selfie is taking over the world and is particularly popular in Asia; enter the Primo app. The Primo app essentially performs a 'make-under' to expose what a person really looks like minus all of their photo touch-ups. The Nan Fang writes, "Large, doe-like eyes; smooth, porcelain skin; a tapered chin on an almond face -- these features can be seen in the many selfies taken by China’s younger generation, especially girls."
But all these features are put to the test through the Primo app. By removing any enhancements to altered images, it shows how consumers are as concerned with what's real as they are with what's not. By balancing the selfie craze in a refreshing way, people are able to see others are they really are in order to boost their own confidence.
