UPS and CVS are Launching a Drone Prescription Delivery Service

UPS and CVS will collaborate on prescription delivery services that uses drones -- the service will also deliver other household items. Additionally, UPS recently received FAA approval for a drone airline, which makes UPS the first company to receive this type of approval. Neither company has indicated when the drone prescription delivery service will be available to consumers.

There are currently other organizations that are launching similar drone delivery services. With increasing competition in this industry, a premium is placed on being first. As drone air space is limited the first organization to create an operational drone delivery service will have better access to air space.

UPS has previous experience in delivering medical items. The company partnered with WakeMed and delivered samples around the WakeMed campus.
