Sarah Carpenter Creates the Postcard Bakery Design in NYC

Sarah Carpenter and her eponymous studio were tapped to design the Postcard Bakery nestled in New York City's West Village. It is embodied by retro-style aesthetics inspired by Asian artwork. The space fuses the aesthetic of modern and classic themes with a minimal look. Carpenter notes, β€œIt has a really bold and nostalgic Japanese feel, which is not a typology that you see often, especially in New York. It is complementary to the brand, but also unexpected.”

The decor is comprised of images of baked goods, vintage postcards from travel destinations, and a Spotify playlist that creates an ambiance for the interior. Carpenter referenced various visuals when designing the space and took music into consideration as well.
