In a tech-based effort to keep track of everything that takes place at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio Buzzfeed has launched Buzzbot -- a political convention chatbot -- to be its news source. The reporter bot interacts with users that are in Cleveland either for the convention or to protest it and encourages them to share photos and videos.

Buzzbot will enable Buzzfeed to interact with more attendees or those protesting than traditional journalism would. Not only can users send emojis to express how they feel about what is happening, but the ability to upload videos and photos will help Buzzfeed collect more data from more sources with a variety of perspectives. Unlike other chatbots being utilized at the convention, Buzzbot is being used to collect news rather than providing it. Buzzbot is a new tech-based spin on traditional reporting and could give Buzzfeed a more well-rounded perspective of everything taking place at the political convention.
