PayPal users within the United States will soon be able to sell and purchase items online with bitcoin.
The update will cover more than 26 million merchants who rely on the secure payment system to conduct their online sales. Instead of asking its merchants to convert the cryptocurrency payments, PayPal will do it for them, providing merchants with regular US currency.
With PayPal's expansion, the many consumers who have invested in cryptocurrency and prefer to rely on it for their online purchases will able to use it with far greater accessibility. The company also announced that it would expand cyrptocurrency to Venmo in 2021, and "allow users in some other countries to buy and sell cryptocurrency."
