Etched Insect Artworks

Pascale Malilo's The Art of Pecking Series is Intricately Detailed

Pascale Malilo creates these intricate etchings that depict insect and reptile subjects. Based in Brussels, the artist holds a degree in architecture and has spent 20 year working in the graphics field.

Since 2007, she has coined a new technique, entitled "pecking" that allows a needle to make small holes on a paper sheet canvas. The pierced holes are displayed in different sizes and are composed to create various forms, insects and snake creatures in this case.

Resembling relief prints, these etched pecking masterpieces by Pascale Malilo are true to the designer's signature aesthetic. The pieces evoke a subtle sense of beauty and are incredibly detailed. The artist's series depicts scorpions, fireflies and various beetles that are formed by miniature holes that have been pierced through paper.
