Marco Arment's Overcast app has already garnered a glowing reputation as the podcast connoisseur's iOS app, but a recent update has improved the experience greatly with just a few simple features. The newest version of Overcast -- Overcast 4.1 -- adds a Smart Resume feature is perhaps the greatest update to the app as it not only skips back a few seconds when the user hits play, but also seeks through the recording to ensure resumes begin on silences. This new feature will ensure that users remember the context of the episode when they restart and will let users jump back into the experience without engaging in mid-sentence.

The update to the Overcast app should help frequent podcast listeners who tend to stop and start recording. The updated app will also let users keep their place in recordings for up to 24 hours before they are removed from the device's library. The Overcast app will also allow users to subscribe to private feeds, such as Patreon exclusives, without having to continuously re-login.
