Teddy Schuyers Creates a More Dynamic Version of the Ostomy Bag

— December 17, 2018 — Lifestyle
The ostomy bag is an aid used by people with Crohn's disease who need to pass waste without it going through the digestive system. Teddy Schuyers is a designer who got diagnosed with the condition and in her graduation year at the Design Academy Eindhoven, the creative decided to produce a version of the ostomy bag that addresses many of the difficulties that patients have with the aid.

The new take on the ostomy bag boasts a two-part design -- a circular hydrocolloid base and the bag itself. The former is a mechanism that covers the stoma opening on the skin. Teddy Schuyers uses skin-safe materials for this to avoid irritation.

The designer makes the ostomy bags available in three variations -- a standard one, a sport-friendly one and one that is ideal for "more intimate moments."
