Modern Floor Lamps Mimic Traditional Japanese Paper Folding
Katie Cordrey — October 4, 2009 — Art & Design
Spanish designers Cutu Mazuelos and Eva Prego of Stone Designs have applied the age-old art of Japanese paper folding to aluminum to make beautiful crane-like floor lamps. A triangle shape at the top of a tall angled base supports the bulb. The entire structure is slightly out of balance providing just a bit of motion if the lamp is touched.
The aluminium lamps are available in five smooth finish
polyester paint colors: red, orange, white, black, and blue.
The promotional video above doesn’t include the origami floor lamps, but it does give you a glimpse into the designs produced by the Stone Designs studio.
