Those who spent four years in school studying journalism may be a bit peeved by the Onpublico app. The app is designed to make it easy for ordinary citizens to report the news they're seeing using just their smartphone. It is based on visuals, with photos/videos (and a short caption) telling the story. The reliance on visuals was done to make the app as accessible as possible. Not everyone is a great writer, but most anyone can take a decent picture with their phone.

The Onpublico app is also location-based. All stories are mapped and news in your feed is ordered by proximity. This means that you'll see stories closest to you first. The Onpublico app is available now in the iTunes App Store for free.
