Studio Faris designed an office staircase that divides a repurposed barn in Belgium into work spaces, meeting places and bookshelves.

The staircase is at the focus of the gray interior of the barn, with its large timber blocks jutting out dramatically. The staircase looks like a wooden sculpture but also provides multiple functional uses. As the renovated barn does not feature smaller rooms and floors, the staircase enables the space to be transformed into separate areas that give it a more cozy look and grants privacy. The timber beams are placed in a way that allows the office staircase to contain copious nooks for reading material and other storage. As Dezeen points out, its structure is similar to that of a giant game of Jenga.

Studio Faris found the staircase deign useful in giving the barn an additional floor without destroying its open concept design, as well as providing the space with a highly original look.
