This project is employing the 'buy one give one' model to property by providing non-profit office space for free. The BuyGiveWork program from non-profit urban agency 3Space allows businesses to subsidize and share their office with philanthropic organizations.
Beginning with co-working space Keeton's & Collett in London, every desk purchased results in a desk donated to a non-profit, startup or "experimental project." The BuyGiveWork project has since expanded to Platform Four in Manchester.
A rise in social enterprises in recent years has led to new ideas in how to support small businesses. The non-profit office program has an objective to "bring a greater sense of purpose to the typical work environment." It also aims to bring small businesses and local charities together in the name of increased collaboration.
