Stunning Ecuadorean Skyscrapers

This New Skyscraper is Inspired By Local Architecture & Culture

Guayaquil, the busy and economically important port city of the South American country of Ecuador, is set to become the home of a stunning new skyscraper that delivers an exceptionally eye-catching aesthetic as well as innovative design, not to mention eco-friendly features.

Dubbed 'Yoo Guayaquil,' this new skyscraper is designed by none other than Philippe Starck as part of his venerated 'Yoo Inspired by Starck' line. Poised to be one of the tallest buildings in Ecuador, this particular skyscraper will touch a height of 176 meters and will comprise as many as 46 floors.

As far as its aesthetic features are concerned, this stunning skyscraper is well and truly inspired by local architecture, as exemplified by the rounded arches that are seen in Guayaquil. "In the traditional architecture of Guayaquil arches were used as an aesthetic and practical solution for the facade, allowing the incorporation of windows and shutters to facilitate ventilation," Starck stated in a press release. "Yoo Gye's arches serve a functional purpose as well as framing the landscapes and creating a seamless connection to the surroundings."
