Netflix's Shuffle Play Allows Viewers to 'Channel Surf'

Netflix's Shuffle Play is being tested throughout select markets, bringing a new feature to the streaming service that could serve indecisive viewers.

Any consumer with a Netflix account is familiar with the journey of trying to find their next show to binge watch. Typically, this process involves flipping through titles and genres until an eventual decision has been made. Shuffle Play puts a spin on this process as it allows users to flick through different shows, similar to channel surfing on cable TV. According to Netflix, this feature was designed with the intention "to make it easier for members to find something to watch.”

To make the feature more personalized, it will pull titles from related viewing history.
