Kallø is expanding its portfolio of rice and corn cakes with veggie cakes that are all-natural, gluten-free, vegan-friendly, low in fat and calories, as well as rich in protein and fiber. The full-flavor veggie cakes are offered in varieties like Spinach & Pesto or Beetroot, which can be topped with nourishing spreads like hummus, fresh pesto or combinations of herbs and cheese. However, as these plant-based cakes have a stronger flavor profile, Kallø's research indicates that consumers would be more open to trying these flavors even without the addition of extra toppings for taste and texture.
With these new products, the brand is aiming to catch the eyes of young consumers who are looking for healthy, plant-based protein snacks, especially those who may be new to the category.
