Kathrine Barbro Bendixen is a Danish designer that pushes all boundaries with these natural lights. The translucent tubes "twist around an LED [...] fixture" and the material that they are made of is cow intestines that have been cleaned and reinflated by the creative.
The approach that Kathrine Barbro Bendixen undertakes for the natural lights is motivated through heavy experimentation of the material as the Copenhagen-based designer has been fascinated with the functional properties of cow intestines since her years as a student. Her creations skillfully bring out the value in the unexpected materials and the illuminating properties of the LED call attention to the unique textures of the intestines, making for a completely unique composition and "unusual light effects."
A sculpture in-and-of-itself, a version of Kathrine Barbro Bendixen's natural lights is on display at Designmuseum Danmark.
