Oakley Designs the Textural MUZM Mars X-Metal Leather

Oakley presents a look at its new MUZM Mars X-Metal Leather, which follows up on the iconic leather sunglasses that it released back in 1998. The MUZM Mars X-Metal Leather was first created in the 90s as a response to Michael Jordan when he asked the brand to create something that would grab attention.

To create the sunglasses, it took a six-ton generator that is fuelled by 425,000 watts of power to push the machinery. It has a complex design and was in production for six years. Brian Takumi, VP of Oakley, Brand Soul and Creative notes, “Bonding science and art around one concept was how we first landed on MARS. As the 90s ramped up, the piece defined a moment in culture, appearing on the silver screen to basketball players.”
