The Barcode Room created by studio_01 is a concept design that allows a space to change into different functionalities with the help of moving walls.

Equipped with movable walls, called bars, they can be moved from side to side and can be easily customized to one's liking. There are also removable elements such as storage and furniture that are built into the walls, which is another way to change around your space. Each wall is made up of 12 components, which can be moved around to create a variety of options -- for living, sleeping and even eating. By changing up the space to fit your lifestyle, you create your own 'barcode' that caters to your individuality.

The concept was a first prize winner in a competition that asked entries to create a studio apartment that could also be used as a gathering space. This versatile system that involves moving walls is definitely one that any urban dweller would love.
