Rentokil's 'ResiConnect' mouse alarm brings IoT technology to the world of pest control.
The alarm works along with the company's RADAR mouse trap to detect early signs of pest activity within the household and send a signal to notify technicians that the mouse has been caught and killed humanely with carbon dioxide rather than bait or poison. As Rentokil describes: "This is the closest thing there is to a ‘burglar alarm’ for mice!"
The mouse alarm system does come at a cost—about $1,600, but promises to be a tool for effectively, instantly and humanely reducing the spread of mice within the home. As the ResiConnect makes the most of the Internet of Things, all reports and recommendations are synched to myRentokil, an online system that can be easily accessed by a homeowner via their mobile device or computer.
