The people at Mielcke & Hurtigkarl, a Denmark-based restaurant favored by royalty and high society, know that sometimes less is more, which is why they've featured simple, minimalist photography in their Metamorphosis cookbook. The delicate, exquisite food compositions are floating against a white background for a celestial effect. But just because Mielcke & Hurtigkarl favor a clean aesthetic, doesn't mean that the cookbook is devoid of emotion. In fact, the books intention is to make an emotional connection.
Mielcke explains he is is "taking people on a gastronomic journey around the palate and playing with the senses to really move them. The elements of nature in a series of organic impressions and tales transformed onto your plate." Along with the visually stunning photographs, the book includes historical surrounds, decoration and thoughts.
