For many people, merry-go-rounds represent childhood visits to fairs and carnivals, evoking memories of sticky cotton candy fingers gripping brass poles as fairy tale horses move up and down in time with the upbeat, instrumental carnival music. Photographer Takeshi Suga's new photo series, 'Merry's Mood,' takes this iconic piece of childhood summers and transforms it into an immortal, glittering piece of magic.

Each photo in Suga's series shows a carousel horse in its ever-frozen prancing position, shining under a soft golden glow. Instead of editing his photos heavily, Suga instead allowed the photos to blur with nighttime lights and movement, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere that makes these merry go rounds feel more alive than ever before.

Merry's Mood, while appearing simplistic in nature, is truly a beautiful depiction of an artistic creation that most people take for granted. Merry go rounds are gorgeous in design and inventive in function, and yet people are generally bored by their lack of thrills and chills. In response to this, Suga has created a stunning photo series that proves that the merry go round is one of the most heart-stopping rides at any carnival.
