MaxQ Medical is developing the MaxQ System, a transurethral platform that combines ultrasound imaging and targeted therapy for prostate conditions. The company raised $31.5 million in Series A financing to expand its clinical program and workforce as it advances the system’s development.
The device is inserted through the urethra and uses ultrasound from within the prostate to give urologists a view of the gland before delivering targeted high-intensity focused ultrasound to selected tissue. Its first indication is benign prostatic hyperplasia, with future plans to expand into focal prostate cancer therapy and broader diagnostic applications such as biopsy and tumor mapping.
For patients and clinicians, the platform is designed to bring imaging and treatment into the same procedure while supporting more targeted prostate care. The funding will help MaxQ continue clinical evaluations and move the technology closer to wider use.

What's Driving This Trend
- Transurethral Imaging Therapy
- Integrated ultrasound and treatment delivered through the urethra points to less invasive procedural models that combine diagnosis, navigation, and intervention in one platform.
- Targeted Prostate Ablation
- Precision high-intensity focused ultrasound creates room for tissue-sparing therapies that reduce reliance on broad surgical intervention and support personalized urology care.
- Procedure-based Diagnostics
- Real-time gland visualization during treatment suggests a growing shift toward diagnostic workflows embedded directly into therapeutic procedures.
Who This Affects Most
- Urology Devices
- Device makers can benefit from demand for systems that improve prostate procedure accuracy while streamlining imaging and therapy into a single clinical workflow.
- Medical Imaging
- Ultrasound innovation inside anatomical structures signals new opportunities for imaging platforms designed around intra-procedural decision support.
- Men's Health
- Rising focus on benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer care is expanding the market for targeted solutions that improve outcomes and patient experience.
