Artistic Color-Changing Cocktails

MoMA and The Modern Created Matisse-Inspired Cocktails

The Modern, the two-Michelin-star restaurant at New York's Museum of Modern Art, is now serving Matisse-inspired cocktails that spotlight the Matisse: The Red Studio exhibit. This exhibit runs until September 10th and it's a celebration of the artist's red masterpiece from 1911.

Through a change in color, the artful cocktail tells the story of how Matisse impulsively covered a finished painting of his studio with bold Venetian Red. The two-step, two-glass cocktail is served to guests starting with a white Negroni and a smaller glass containing a red blend of Campari, Zucca Amaro and strawberry liqueur. Like an artist preparing their paint palette, guests get to experiment with each glass individually and combine the separate parts to create a flavorful masterpiece of their own, and an unforgettable cocktail experience.
