Sayaka Ganz’s scrap metal animal sculptures are all made from recycled metals or plastics. These realistic depictions all appear to be in motion and represent a dire need for the protection of our delicate ecosystem.
The creations combine hundreds of miscellaneous plastic or metal parts from objects Ganz has collected from multiple thrift stores. Ganz painstakingly creates these animal sculptures using steel wire before spending countless hours welding together anything from discarded utensils to metal scrap parts.
Ganz is looking to make some sense of the complicated world around us by using creativity and willpower to transform random trash that would otherwise go to waste into incredible and fascinating works of art. This is a true testament to what can be done with items that most of us would see as trash.
