On March 24th, people from all over the world gathered in unison for the March for Our Lives, walking together in support of gun control following the tragic Parkland shooting. March for Our Lives was created and inspired by the students of Parkland, but has since gathered supporters nationwide. Its mission statement is to not allow any more children to be victims of avoidable shootings and to not sit idly in the gun violence epidemic.
The Parkland students engaged themselves with the media to express the importance of the matter and to prevent tragic incidents before they have the chance to arise. The March for Our Lives captured attention from all over the globe as its GoFundMe campaign raised $1.7 million within three days along with private $2 million donations from celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, and Steven Spielberg. The March for Our Lives gathered supporters from everywhere, encouraged attendance, and promised for further action.
Recently, March for Our Lives announces its #RoadToChange, which is a nationwide bus tour that encourages youth to vote and initiate discussion on the matter of gun safety.
