An exquisite marble chair has been debuted by New York City-based company Bower. Dubbed 'Melt,' the one-of-a-kind seating furniture is a tribute to ancient Egypt.
The design is lavish not only in its form but also in its use of material. For the construction, Bower utilized Imperial Green marble and antique brass. The colors and textures offer a bold juxtaposition that ultimately serves in favor of the piece. The idea behind the marble chair is to give it the appearance of melting — as can be inferred from the name. In fact, Bower skillfully sculpted the marble slab to drape over the brass skeleton and fall to the ground "into a puddle on the floor." This is exceptionally executed, considering the level of flexibility that marble allows.
