Rasmus B. Fex Presents a Modern Chair at Dezeen x The Mindcraft Project

This striking modern chair is presented as part of the Dezeen x The Mindcraft Project 2022 collaboration, which is a showcase organized by Dezeen and the Copenhagen Design Agency (CDA). Titled the Maestro Chair, the piece was created by Danish furniture designer Rasmus B. Fex.

The silhouette of the modern chair draws cues from music and tailcoat tuxedos. While the "split down the length of the back [of the seating furniture] is reminiscent of the split in an orchestra conductor's tailcoat tuxedo," Rasmus B. Fex created "ample space between the [wooden] planks to represent pauses in musical scores."

The silhouette of the Maestro Chair is eye-catching in its geometrical expression. The designer used blackened Douglas pine planks, steel, and leather for the creation of this piece. The material choice evokes a degree of elegance.
