The Make Architects pavilion located in Weihai, China will serve as a center for numerous activities. Events, launches and formal reception parties will all be held within the space, an interesting location given its extravagant oblong shape.
According to Make Architects, its design is functional in several regards. Weihai is a bustling region with over 2.5 million residents. Home to business deals and residential expansion, the city was in need of a commercial hub, hence the development of this coastal structure.
Sheets of bamboo and natural beams of sunlight tone down the pavilions overwhelming spherical shape, one that promises to deliver a 180 degree look at the water. Main Architects have managed to strike a state of the art balance between authenticity and modernity here.
