This Lucozade Packaging Update Cuts Plastic Use

— May 14, 2025 — Eco
This Lucozade packaging update has been announced by Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I (SBF GB&I) as part of the brand's initiative to cut plastic use, improve recyclability and more.

The packaging update sees the signature Lucozade bottle with a sleeve that covers 50% of the bottle's height, which results in a sleeve weight reduction of 60%. This will reportedly remove 956 tonnes of plastic from the supply chain annually, while also cutting water usage in the production phase. The packaging update required there brand to install new sleeving equipment across three production lines at its Coleford factory.

Supply Chain Director Karl Ottomar commented on the Lucozade packaging update saying, "As one of the biggest energy brands in the UK, producing over 3,000 bottles of Lucozade Energy per minute, this has been a complex and large-scale change for our factory. While reducing a drink’s sleeve size may sound simple, it has required a full redesign of the bottle and complete change in componentry on our production lines."
