Surrealistic Wonderland Portraits

Natalie Shau Helps us Get 'Lost in Wonderland'

Whether you wish to fall down the rabbit hole or peer through the looking glass, one way or another Natalie Shau's 'Lost in Wonderland' series will help you lose yourself. The latest by the Lithuania-based artist fuses her interests of fashion, portrait photography and digital illustration.

This series, like most of Shau's work, plays with surrealistic and gothic elements. Each of Shau's hyperrealistic images include vivid colors and hallucinatory-like effects that will leave you feeling slightly disoriented. This effect is furthered by the haunting eyeball imagery, which is incorporated into butterflies, flowers and home decor throughout. While it's true that Shau's images may be slightly off-putting, they're also profoundly beautiful and immaculately detailed.

These eerie images are especially fitting, considering Shau's paying tribute to one of the trippiest literary classics of all time, Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.'
