'London Terrariums' Store Was Inspired by an Instagram Post

Social media sites like Instagram are having an increasingly outsize impact on how small business owners market and design their consumer experiences, and 'London Terrariums' is a new business that is explicit about its Instagram inspiration. The London retailer, which sells stylish plant-filled terrariums to private and commercial clients, designed its store based on an Instagram photo that its owner stumbled upon happenstance.

Many of London Terrariums' competitors, and indeed decor shops in general, tend towards a stark white aesthetic. In an effort to diverge from that, the inaugural shop is based around an Instagram photo of a woman wearing "a forest green jacket, yellow sweater, and...some gold glinting from her earring," according to Emma Sibley of London Terrariums.
