The Life After Birth Project is Touring North America

— September 26, 2019 — Social Good
The Life After Birth photography exhibit is now on display in Toronto, Canada and aims to show a realistic depiction of what motherhood and childbirth is actually like. The art gallery was launched by Joanna Griffiths, the founder of Knixwear -- an inclusive period-proof underwear line -- and doula Domino Kirke of Carriage House Birth.

The Life After Birth exhibit features more than 250 women postpartum in various post-birth situations including "pain, joy, pride; baring their cesarean scars, weight gain, and diastasis recti." The gallery hopes to challenge the common notions around childbirth and challenge many of the stigmas.

A portion of the proceeds from the exhibit will be donated to CAMH's treatment of postpartum depression.
