Ecological Library Rooftops

Vancouver Central Library's Top Floor Will be a Green Space Community

Vancouver's Central Library is undergoing a massive environmentally friendly remodelling to transform the library rooftop into a large community green space that can be used for a variety of communal activities. The space will offer one of the largest open green roofs in the community that can be used during the day and at night.

The Central Library is one of the main hubs of the west coast city, dedicating various floors to books and provincial government offices. The space will increase its layout by transforming the rooftop into a green space that will extend the layout by 40,000-square feet and offer an outdoor auditorium, outdoor gallery space, meeting rooms and a reading area. The space will also provide a public garden that will help to naturally reduce the effect of the city's carbon emissions.
