While the Laguna Glassware Collection might appear as though it was inspired by traditional lava lamps, it was actually influenced by the lagoon, hence its name. A lagoon is a coastal basin separated from the sea by a barrier island and this is visually interpreted by an moat-like exterior that traps colored liquid for a creative effect.
Forever separated from the drinkable liquids that the cups are meant to hold, this 'moat' essentially acts as a pattern for the designs overall. Design Milk writes, "The brightly-colored liquid moves and changes with each movement of the glass, and the three horizontal chromatic strips blur into each other like a Rothko painting."
Designed by Attico, the Laguna Glassware Collection could easily be displayed as art than functional cups to drink out of.
