Hawaiian rum is fairly rare in the spirit market, but Koloa Kauai Reserve rum is looking to change that with a high-quality reserve rum. Distilled by Kalaheo distillery in Kauai, Hawaii, this reserve spirit is artfully crafted in single batches. Hawaiian sugar cane and fresh island water are the principal ingredients of the Koloa Kauai Reserve rum, as is the process the water goes through. Naturally filtered through volcanic strata before reaching vast underground aquifers, the water used in this rum is incredibly pure and quite rare.
The nose of Koloa Kauai Reserve reflects the island nature of the rum as it features bold coconut, vanilla cream and orange juice. The palate kicks off with sweetness, but it slowly fades to reveal toasted coconut characteristics. This is immediately followed by hints of chocolate and butterscotch that blend together beautifully to invoke images of the tropical island.
