Middling designs do little to inspire awe or imagination, and this house renovation from Koichi Kimura Architects and FORM takes that concept to heart. The new home design is starkly angular, highlighting sharp 90-degree angles in both small and large ways.

Koichi Kimura Architects and FORM designed this house renovation in a building that was first erected 23 years ago, but the architects did a great job of making it look distinctly modern by focusing on an angular theme. The exterior of the home is a series of cubic volumes clad in black paneling, and the cubic motif continues on the interior. One of the clever touches from the designers is a cubic black wood-burning fireplace that looks like a miniature version of the house as a whole.
