Regionally Inspired Restaurant Designs

Pirajean Lees Designs the Kioku Restaurant in London

Design studio Pirajean Lees created the Kioku sushi restaurant and sake bar which is located in central London inside of the OWO hotel. It is crafted with inspiration from the head chef's intricate travels. The restaurant features oxblood tiles that are paired with wooden joinery for a warm look.

The space features a bar on the ground floor and a restaurant above. The word Kioku means 'memory' in Japanese and it nods to Endo Kazutoshi's time living and working in both Japan and Spain. The designer explains, "We share a passion for storytelling and an obsession with details, from the way your hand touches the backrest of a chair, to the height of the table. From the outset, we knew that the level of attention to detail in the interior had to match that found in the food being served."
