The King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station is yet another outstanding design from British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. It is a gargantuan structure that looks like a cruise ship. Considering that it is meant to take people places, perhaps that it a fitting comparison. Up close, however, or viewed from above, the station looks more like the rolling waves such a ship would cut through.
To be built over a course of four years, the King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station will be located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Defined by a sequence of opposing sine-waves, the latticed structure hopes to mitigate the flow of traffic in an orderly fashion. The undulating surface is also mimicked on the inside.
