Fantasy-Spoofing Restaurant Ads

KFC UK and Ireland's New Ad Features Hodor from Game of Thrones

With the HBO's seventh season of 'Game of Thrones' set to debut in just a few short weeks, KFC UK and Ireland is looking to capitalize on the tremendously popular fantasy series with a new ad. The QSR's minute-long spot features Kristian Nairn, the actor who portrayed fan-favorite Hodor on the show, and it plays off of the poor giant's fate in season six.

Fans of the show no doubt remember Hodor's time-twisting demise as he held the door against hordes of villains, sacrificing himself so that Bran could escape and showing fans how he got his name. The KFC UK and Ireland ad teases that tragic scene, with Nairn this time acting as a KFC employee holding off a horde of hungry diners placing their orders for chicken with rice. Like in the Game of Thrones episode, Nairn ends up repeating "chicken with fries" until it morphs into "chicken with rice," the product that the clever spoof is selling.
