Nova Scotia-based mixologist Keegan McGregor is the latest winner of the Diageo WORLD CLASS Canada Bartender 2024 competition and recent teamed up with the brand to launch two signature cocktail recipes. Launched in anticipation of World Cocktail Day, taking place on May 13th, the artisan recipes are easy to recreate at home and highlight some of Diageo's most iconic spirits.
McGregor's first cocktail recipe is "Mara," Gaelic for "The Sea," featuring Talisker 10 YO Scotch, sweet vermouth, PX Sherry, red wine vinegar, orange bitters, and a homemade saline solution. This cocktail pairs perfectly with oysters, accentuating the maritime flavors of Talisker 10.
The second recipe is the "Black Label Fizz," made with Johnnie Walker Black Label, whipping cream, chilled breakfast tea, lemon, honey syrup, and egg white. The mix is then topped with soda and garnished with grated nutmeg and shaken for a signature and rich meringue texture.
