While e-bike insurance may not be necessary to ride, Josslin Insurance wants to ensure riders are covered for any eventuality. Available as part of homeowners, condo or tenants policy, this insurance plan is geared specifically towards e-bikes and generally covers injury to the rider, liability, property damage caused by the bike, and physical damage to the bike itself. Josslin Insurance currently offers its e-bike coverage in Ontario, Canada and therefore structures its conduct under the provincial government's regulations on e-bikes.
To qualify for Josslin Insurance all e-bikes must have steering handlebars and functioning pedals, an electric motor that doesn't exceed 500w and does not produce speed excess of 39 km/h. The e-bikes must also not be operated on any 400 series highways and cannot be modified in any way.
