Swatch Pairs Moon Taxi and Fireworks Timepieces

Swatch is expanding its Destination Art line with two Japan-linked watches with Tokyo illustrator Shinji Tsuchimochi. In Japan, buyers get Expressway to the Future as a moonbound Tokyo taxi scene, while Bridge to the Past shifts to an Edo-era bridge and fireworks, with Tsuchimochi mixing ukiyo-e, manga and anime cues shaped by Hiroshige and van Gogh.

Expressway to the Future uses a 41 mm case, while Bridge to the Past has a 34 mm transparent biosourced one. The Tokyo design reaches four stores in Japan, while Bridge to the Past reaches Swatch stores across the country and its Japanese online shop.

Availability in four stores for Expressway to the Future turns distribution into part of the offer, giving the Tokyo watch a narrower path to purchase than its companion. Swatch uses that split to serve both location-led collectors and buyers seeking a Japan theme without the same retail limits.
