Icelandair has created an infographic titled 'Iceland on Screen,' which explains how the small island became a popular filming location.
Iceland's ethereal backdrop has been favored by producers of action and sci-fi films -- most notably, Game of Thrones has been filming in Iceland since kicking off its second season back in 2012. Furthermore, the hotly anticipated Star Wars prequel 'The Force Awakens' was also partially filmed in Iceland. The Nordic nation is characterized by its volcanic landscape, which includes spectacular natural wonders such as geothermal springs, lava fields, glaciers, iceberg lagoons and black sand beaches.
