This vending machine near Hachiko square in Shibuya Japan is not an ordinary vending machine; it is actually operated by a charming human operator inside which passes the purchased goods out to you. Complete with upper and lower serving windows depending if it is an adult or a child. This is part of their marketing strategy in order to promote their product Caramini Corn (caramel corn snacks).

Implications - There are many simple opportunities for companies to take an ordinary product and transform it into something extraordinary. It is very often the case that enhancing or modifying a commonly used product can provide it with a resurgence that will generate high levels of success. In the eyes of a consumer, the degree to which a familiar product is enhanced or altered can make it appear brand new.
