Chilean studio Daiber & Aceituno Arquitectos has designed the House in the Forest, which is a corrugated metal house nestled in the Puerto Varas forest in Chile. It is raised above the ground on top of concrete arches in order to minimize its footprint in the natural terrain. The home highlights its ability to capture natural lighting and sustainable building materials.
The home also has a void in the middle with the purpose of organizing its interior and acts as a bright light in the center of the home. The studio explains, "Without a doubt, the project's most distinctive features are its arched foundations, the vaulted entrance, and the strong relationship it establishes with its immediate surroundings. These elements transform an otherwise simple structure into a singular architectural piece that engages with the forest in which it is nestled."
